(5/06/2012) Many people struggle with the “why” behind prayer. Why should we do it? Why should it become my very lifestyle? It has long been understood that many people will simply not engage in something as a regular discipline unless they understand the importance of it. Prayer as a passionate and regular discipline of the life of the believer is lacking severely in many churches and lives today. We must renew our commitment to prayer in the understanding that it is vital to our personal growth as believers and for the mission of the church as a whole. It refocuses our attention on God and forms a lifeline to our lover, God. Further, God has determined that prayer can be and will be effective when it is in accordance with his will, and that some things simply will not happen unless we approach him in prayer. Religion is our normal attempt to reach God. We have to believe the right thing behave the right way worship the right way and be part of the right denomination in order to be saved. All of that is the “normal” way of knowing you are saved. But God didn’t send a religion to save us He did it in a WEiRD way by send us His Son to die on a cross to save us.
