This evening we had our first training session for our volunteers and it went great! I can’t tell you how excited I am about the people God has brought on board to serve at Epic!
To top off the day I just spent time with Jenni reading Peter a story out of the bible and praying with him. He’s so funny and getting a great personality. I’m not sure if parenting is supposed to be like this, but I just wanted to keep him up way past his bed time and play with him, I don’t want to miss a minute of him!

Jenni’s whole family was in town and we got to watch her little sister Katie get married off to a great guy named Mark. It was good for her to see her family and for Peter to get handed around. Everyone came over to our house last night and we tested the limits on what she could handle! We came out with flying colors.
Anyway, I should go because our launch team is coming over and I’m really excited about getting to hang out with them tonight! They are a great group of people!

He’s sick, and is having to take breathing treatments to help him breathe better. The thing that is really hard about this is that he doesn’t understand what’s going on. He pushes the apparatus away and doesn’t want anything over his face. I wish there was a way for me to help him understand, to explain it to him.

I sometimes think this is the reason Jesus came to the earth and put on the skin of a man. We were hurting and broken – separated from God and in need of some sort of ultimate treatment. So, in order to communicate the extent of Gods love for us, Jesus became a man, spoke our language, showed us how to live a life that was without wrongdoing and then applied the ultimate salve for our souls. His blood for ours. This is the essence of the gospel. That God, loved us so much that He sent His one and only son to die in our place – the righteous for the unrighteous.

That’s the power of the cross, that’s the good news that we proclaim. And that is why we are planting Epic Church – because our God went first and stepped out to build a relationship with us!

Here’s a few pictures of Peter and I getting some boxes ready for christmas presents to the folks in Andover who are coming to the Home Town Christmas Celebration!  The boxes are little christmas ornaments that are filled with Candy.  I can’t wait to eat some chili and hang out at this event!

Here are just a few things I’m thankful for this year:

  1. God’s immense love – no joke, I know it sounds corny, but lately I have thought a lot about where I would be if God had not brought me into a relationship with Him.
  2. Jenni – I am not that great of a husband and she is so loving, forgiving and able to push me just right.
  3. Peter – baby smiles, need I say more.
  4. Our friends and family.
  5. Those folks who are supporting Epic Church through prayer and finances.  Jenni and I have been taking stock of just how many people are making this thing happen.  It’s incredible!
  6. My Grandma for letting Jenni and I live with her for the past 6 months or so.
  7. Pecan pie!
  8. Bible Christian Church – for being so faithful and allowing us to make this move into church planting with their blessing!
  9. Disposable diapers (You know you’re secretly thankful too).
  10. Our youth at BCC – they are honestly the best teens I know!

Anyway, that’s some of what I’m thankful for this year.  How bout you?
