Camp-o-rama

I got back from camp yesterday. It was so good to see Jenni!!! She is the best wife!
I have never had to speak at a camp where I was the only speaker – it was a little crazy but a good challenge. I feel like God showed up and really worked on some kids! I also got to be the missionary for this last week of camp, and that was fun too. I think the kids really understood what it was that Jenni and I are going to be doing and it was really cool to get to implant in them a desire to see people won to the Lord.

A few crazy things that happened:

I hit another deer on the way to camp
I hit a fox on the way from camp to a Casey’s store (I was taking the band out for a treat)
I rang up $6.66 at the Casey’s and did some quick thinking and said “…and I’ll take this whatcha-ma-call-it too..”, It was honestly pretty funny
We had a huge wall cloud pass over camp and we could see the vortex within it – the dean said it dropped down like 2 miles away
I ate cookies with potato chips in them
I met lots of cool people who are faithfully serving God
Jenni got me a new iPod for camp so I wouldn’t die driving the 10 hrs. by myself to Iowa
I found out that Iowa is like a different country
I talked to an Australian

That’s it… Camp was good. God is good! Jenni is a sight for sore eyes!

What else could go wrong?

So Jenni & I woke up this morning to the sight of a large evergreen split in half and fallen on our double wide. This comes less than 12 hours after hitting the deer with our car. It looks like there wasn’t any damage to the house, praise God!

I’ll tell ya, since Jenni and I have decided to plant a church we have had all kinds of problems that we normally never experience. Our transmission went out on our 2003 Honda Pilot, we have had crazy financial issues, Jenni was hit in the Honda from behind, more financial problems, deers, & trees – all within maybe 4-5 months. We have both been talking about how we have felt under attack spiritually speaking. I read Paul’s words about “Making the most of every opportunity because the days are evil” and I now understand the sense of urgency in his words. This is a battle we are in. How we respond to these physical problems will determine our spiritual journey. If we are not able to cling to our shield of faith and rest in it, then we will get bitter and resentful.

God has surely been faithful to us through this whole journey! Our transmission was replaced under a warranty we don’t have for 90% free! Jenni didn’t get hurt in the accident – nor did Barton Finkey (our baby)! The deer only damaged our car not us! Etc.

The truth is, Jesus is still God and King, and His Kingdom is all that matters. Give your life away, for His sake, and you will truly find your life!

P.S. – I soon will be trying to build a prayer team for Jenni & I and Epic Church; we would like to have at least a hundred people committed to praying for Epic Church and against Satan. Would you consider joining that effort today? We need ya in this battle!

Deer!

So tonight I hit a deer with our Honda Pilot…

I was driving back from youth group tonight when a deer popped out of nowhere and slammed into the passengers side door. I saw it in my peripheral. It bounced off that door and then hit the back panel. I pulled over and saw the deer behind thrashing in the field - it was one of those sad moments where you realize you are going to have to put the animal down.

Our Neighbor Barb brought a 38 pistol out and I shot it 6 times, she shot it three and between the two of us we killed it. It was honestly one of the worst things I have had to do ever.
