What would it look like?

Just wondering what it would look like if churches stopped trying to be “found” and started finding people? I think it would take individuals engaging the mission of connecting people to God, one person at a time. And it would take the church offering opportunities for us to go out and live out that mission as a community – doing the “finding” together as a team!

That’s the kind of church I want to be involved in! That’s the kind of church I long for Epic to be!

Question: Are we there yet? What could we do to get there?

Children & Family Ministry

Just got off the phone with a really good friend, we were chatting about children's ministry in churches. God is really doing something with us at Epic that I think is going to be different than what any other church is doing! As we talked, he's a leader in the area of children's ministry, it just got me fired up for what God could do if a church really started to think creatively and differently about their children's ministry! I love Jesus leading our church! It's scary and exciting all at the same time! I do know, nothing is going to be the same with Epic or the people of Epic as we turn our ministry and lives over to the one who is the greatest leader of all! Let's make a difference in someones life today, and let's start with our kids!

Gorilla Marketing

So, tomorrow, Epic Church is going banana’s at WSU! �We are going to be on campus with the coolest gorilla you’ve ever seen, handing out high fives, banana’s and flyers advertising Epic Churches new time and location! �I can’t wait to see the response we get with all our monkeying around! �It’s gonna be awesome!!!!

Lunch

Today I had lunch with Pastor Mark Hoover from New Spring on the east side of Wichita. I was really impressed with Marks humility and sense of call and direction to reach people who are disconnected from God! It is so good to be surrounded by churches who get it! I can’t wait to see how God forms a bond between New Spring and Epic! In case you didn’t know, we’re on the same team!

Rock Andover Goes Patriotic

I just heard Ed Stetzer on the Planting Channel talking about some statistics about the North American Church.� One of the things he said was that North America is the only continent where the Gospel is losing ground rather than advancing.�� He said most church growth has been transfer growth.� We have to be planting churches that are reaching people who don’t know Jesus and are disconnected from God…

Rock Andover.com is our new church missions portal for Epic Church.� We want to provide world class missions opportunities for churches and youth groups to experience the power of culturally relevant evangelism and community service!

We believe that we can completely and eternally alter Andover through these trips!� I can’t wait to see how God uses Rock Andover.com!!!

Yesterday meet Today + Tomorrow and then some…

So, I am currently on another Wichita trip that is chocked full of meetings with Pastors and Community leaders.� Yesterday I met with pastors from East-side Community Church (great guys – know what they are talking about, can’t wait to learn from them), Riverlawn (Jeff Isaacs has been nothing but supportive – he is a real asset to the community), Northwest Christian Church (Rodger Thompson and I had a good time eating and sharing what God has been doing in our ministries, I’m excited to see where that partnership takes us), Westlink (Todd is just a great leader, I know the guy is incredibly busy but he still takes time to meet with me and ask great questions.).

I also had the opportunity to talk with the Director of the Andover Senior Citizen’s Club about ways that Epic Church can serve them.� I am excited about the doors God is opening for us to give back to people who have been giving to this community for a long time!� It is also a perfect location for our launch team meetings and she is really interested in renting it to us.

I talked with a lady from City Hall about bringing youth groups on missions trips to serve in the community.� It’s great to start to put some feet to the ideas we have and to share them with others, I am looking forward to the relationship we can have with the City of Andover and getting to serve there!� I also made contact with the Chamber and am excited about what they are doing and the possibility of serving with them – Garrett has been a huge help to me so far and I am looking forward to working with the whole team to find ways we can serve!

Today, I am starting it all again.� I am meeting some guys for lunch and then Jenni and I are taking a couple out to dinner that have been looking for a church – I am excited to get to meet them and hopefully form a friendship!

Tomorrow – Celebrate our Anniversary!� We are going to a Japanese Steak House and then on to a Hockey Game (Jenni’s choice – Best wife ever award!!!)

Sunday/Monday – We present to a church missions board about Epic (they are graciously hosting us in their home and providing us lunch).� Monday I am in Joplin and meet with some pastors, potential staff members and an organization that has a passion to see churches planted!
