Tailgate Party

Yesterday after church we had a tailgate party and it was an absolute blast! I love the people at Epic! Man, it’s so fun getting to watch God bring all the right people on board to make a difference in this city!!!

Lunch

Today I had lunch with Pastor Mark Hoover from New Spring on the east side of Wichita. I was really impressed with Marks humility and sense of call and direction to reach people who are disconnected from God! It is so good to be surrounded by churches who get it! I can’t wait to see how God forms a bond between New Spring and Epic! In case you didn’t know, we’re on the same team!

Grand Opening Month Starts Tomorrow!!!

Can’t Sleep

Already I can’t sleep as I think about our launch Sunday! Jenni and I laid down to take a nap today (after doing some yard work) and all I could think about was next Sunday and what God is going to do!

As I think about it, I just keep asking Him to show up. It doesn’t really matter if I preach a great sermon, or if our band comes off flawlessly. What matters is that the God of the universe shows up and turns a movie theater into a holy place! If you are praying for us, this would be the one thing that I ask you to pray for – that God would show up – that His presence would ignite Epic Church!

Rocked the Trial Run

Today was our first time setting up at the Warren for a Trial run of Epic Church – and seriously, it rocked!
Our team set up and tore down in record time and our band could go toe to toe with just about anybody when it comes to musical talent! It’s an amazing thing to dream about something for 2 or more years and to now see it start to take form and shape in reality!
All I kept thinking today was how amazing God is and how I still am not sure how everything got pulled together. What a cool ride to get to be on!

Great Worship/Fellowship Time

Man, tonight we had a great time gathering for worship and playing Frisbee! Jory (check out his blog), our worship leader is phenomenal!
I can’t wait for September, it’s gonna be a blast to finally have our church rollin!

The Great Depression Part 2?

It seems like I know more and more people who are asking the question, “how much worse can it get?” I personally don’t know, and am not really qualified to even comment on our current economic status. I do know that my wife and I have felt the pinch just like a lot of our friends are feeling it. One of my chief concerns in times like these is that the church does not over spiritualize circumstances, but that we would neither downplay the significance of being spiritual and only focus on the physical needs. This is a crucial moment in our history. We will forge a future, the question is, will it be one that it is forged on fear or on hope?
I say we have a hope that is greater than the movement in the dow jones, we have a calling that is deeper than the recession – as Hebrews 10:39 says, “But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved.” My faith is not in the economic, political, scientific system. My faith is in the creator of the universe, who with one swift breath could breathe mud into a man (see the beginning of Genesis).

What a Morning

This morning I had a meeting via the phone at 8am. Then I had to rush over to the library to drop off our moon bounce for our event at 11am. I then ran over to Central Christian Church (while lugging our trailer around) to meet with some of the leadership there about the possibility of a partnership (which they are ready to go forward with – this is great news). I hen rushed out of that meeting back to the Andover library just in time to see the first kid jump in our moon bounce. After we wrapped up there I ran out to a lunch meeting and am now finally at home. Ahhh… Busy, busy. Any one want to mow my lawn… That will just have to wait.
The library event was great, I think they are going to be a huge success and just what the community is looking for. I can’t wait for our event this Sunday at the YMCA at 5:30 in Andover. It’s going to be a blast!
