Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to one and to all!

Here are just a few things I’m thankful for this year:

God’s immense love – no joke, I know it sounds corny, but lately I have thought a lot about where I would be if God had not brought me into a relationship with Him.
Jenni – I am not that great of a husband and she is so loving, forgiving and able to push me just right.
Peter – baby smiles, need I say more.
Our friends and family.
Those folks who are supporting Epic Church through prayer and finances.� Jenni and I have been taking stock of just how many people are making this thing happen.� It’s incredible!
My Grandma for letting Jenni and I live with her for the past 6 months or so.
Pecan pie!
Bible Christian Church – for being so faithful and allowing us to make this move into church planting with their blessing!
Disposable diapers (You know you’re secretly thankful too).
Our youth at BCC – they are honestly the best teens I know!

Anyway, that’s some of what I’m thankful for this year.� How bout you?

Making the Big Move

So, Jenni and I move on December 19th.� Our last Sunday at Bible Christian Church will be on the 14th, we will do youth group that Wednesday night with our teens and then we will be on our way to plant Epic.� This last month is going to be tinged with feelings of excitement and loss.� We have had such a great group of teens here and a lot of wonderful relationships – it’s gonna be hard to leave.

I think the only thing that is pulling me through is the fact that Jesus is for sure calling us to make a difference in the lives of people who are far from God in Andover!

Prayer Meeting

I’m really looking forward to meeting tonight with people from Bible Christian Church to pray (7-8pm in the junior high room).� This is our last meeting like this before we move.

If you can’t make the prayer meeting, you can still be praying for us:

Pray for our family – Satan is working double time to try and keep us from being effective.
Pray for logistical things – our housing situation, finding insurance, etc.
Pray for the people we are meeting in Andover.� Next week I have meetings with several people from Andover and am looking forward to the doors God opens.
We are having a dinner next Friday night with people who are interested in Epic Church – pray that God will bring the right people on board.
Pray for staff – we have one girl who is moving to intern for us and another who is considering moving to intern, we also have a guy we are interviewing for our worship and creative arts position.

Thanks for all the prayers and for those of you who are going to be there tonight, we are really looking forward to this time!

Friends

Jenni and I got to spend the weekend with a bunch of teenagers from Bible Christian Church.� It was our last youth group trip as the youth ministers here.� The whole trip was tinged with sadness for me.� Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited about our church plant – I am confident that we have been called, but I am sad to leave these teens.� They are all good friends of mine and I can’t wait to see the great things God is going to do in their lives!

We got to see our friends Dennis and Tonda on this trip, they let us stay with them and it was such a great time!� Plus, they have an amazing house!

My only regrets from the trip are that the bowling ball didn’t break more when we dropped it from the spill way and that I forgot to call Dan and Sarah – doh!� (Sorry guys, I’m dumb).

I think the next month or so is going to be a constant mix of sadness and excitement frosted with the need for complete trust and faithfullness to God!

Missions Ministry

Last night Jenni and I met with the Missions Ministry of Bible Christian Church.� It was a really good meeting.� I love getting to share the vision of Epic Church!� There is something in me that says I was born for this!� I am sold that we will stand/fight/and die on the field of reaching people who are disconnected from God in KC!� It is fun to get to see others start to get excited about that same thing!

So, if any of the Missions Ministry Team is reading this:� Thank you so much for the opportunity to share with you our plan, purpose and passion and we can’t wait to see how we can team up to reach people!

History

Jenni and I stopped in Wal-Mart today to talk with a friend from Bible Christian today. She was telling us how she had grown up at BCC (she has been there since a baby) and remembers going to Church in an old school building before the church had its own building. It was interesting to talk about the Legacy of Faith that BCC has had. How Bible Christian had once been a new Church with hopes and dreams and fears all of her own.

I am encouraged to be a part of a group of people who carry on that legacy of faith to this day! Jenni and I have been embraced by our friends and family at BCC when they very easily could have turned their backs and said, “fuh-ee (I have no idea how to spell that) on you!” We have experienced the exact opposite – we have had only encouragement and pledged support. I only hope that as Jenni and I step out and carry the legacy of faith with us, that we do honor to those who are sending us! I could not have chosen a better place to carry out the last 6 years of growing in ministry and life!
