Jeremiah Thoughts

I’ve been reading the book of Jeremiah in personal celebration time of God and connecting with Him. I’m struck by the idea that, as a Christ Follower, none of my treasure, success, position, possessions, or power are “mine” in the sense that I have the right to use them exclusively for my own ends. They are a responsibility placed upon me by Jesus, one in which I will be called to account for. I serve, live, and breathe at His pleasure…

This could sound frightening and controlling until you understand the goodness of God, He knows me and loves me and will lead you and me in paths of righteousness if we will submit our all in all to Him. It is good to know God!

A Couple of Resources for those who struggle with Sexual Purity

In my sermon Sunday I mentioned a program that I have on every computer in my house called X3watch (http://x3watch.com/x3watchfree.html). It’s an accountability program for pornography. You can set up who you want to have it email a report of your computer activity to each week. I have it going to my wife. This doesn’t prevent the activity, but it is a big dissuader (if you shut down the software it will report that as well). Men, it’s time we become men and start honoring our wives! Talk to her, make a covenant with the Lord, and if you fail, get back on the horse!

Considerate & Respectful (or for the gents)

Considerate & respectful (honor)
� Finds practical ways to show love to his wife
� Speaks kind loving words
� Slow to Anger, quick to listen
� Seeks to become a leader worth following
� Spends quality time investing in his wife

Without being Considerate & respectful (no-honor)
� Will only display love for something in return
� Will tend towards hurtful demeaning words
� Will flair up in bursts of anger, with long periods of withdraw
� Leads selfishly – choosing to satisfy his own desires only
� Spends quality time with friends, sports, & entertainment over family

Gentle & Quiet Spirit (or for the ladies)

With a Quiet and Gentle Spirit:
� Confident but not forceful
� Demonstrates leadership without being overly controlling
� Is driven by a trust in Christ, not a fear of failure
� Outspoken but humble
� Slow to speak, communicating Scriptural truth and wisdom

Without a Quiet and Gentle Spirit:
� Will push and push until she gets her way
� A control freak
� Driven by fear
� Always has to be heard
� Brash, quick to speak, and quick to become angry
