When you really start trying to find ways to serve the community, you find yourself doing things you wouldn’t have thought of on your own. Lately, I’ve been serving at the Andover YMCA. The facility is amazing, everything is state of the art. This YMCA is the newest addition to Wichita’s phenomenal array of successful YMCA branches. They have a huge climbing wall (I believe it’s the largest in the nation for YMCA’s), they have a wet-tackular water park (that’s my name for it) that features a lazy river and all kinds of great slides and attractions for kids. It is seriously an amazing facility and operation that has landed in Andover!
I have been volunteering there this week, greeting people as they come in the facility and offering them free bottles of water. We decided that if we were going to be door greaters we would do it right – provide free water! As I’ve been working, I’ve also been observing.
I love watching how different organizations have a certain culture to them. I have been watching the culture at the YMCA and have some thoughts. My plan is to share a few of those of the course of this week.

So which costume did you wear? I am partial to the police man.
