Having a Bad Day?
Thu, May 7, 2009
I was reading Acts 16 today where Paul and Silas get thrown in Jail.
I don’t know how Paul and Silas would have classified this day before the jail doors threw open. I know I would have put it in the “bad day” category. I would have sung songs and prayed, but only because I would have been depressed and needed cheered up a bit. Then I came upon Acts 16:27-31.
Isn’t it interesting what God can do with a bad day? He takes jail and turns it into jubilation, He takes cells and turns them into salvation! As humans we count circumstances as though they are a barometer for our life’s purpose – when the circumstances are going my way, everythings good. When they go the other way, everything’s bad. The problem is, God can work in you through a bad circumstance just as easily (I would say maybe even more easily) than he can through a good circumstance.
So, how does God want to make the most out of your bad day? I say ask Him, be ready for the opportunity, and seize it when it comes.
