An Epic Journey

Last night in our Launch Team meeting, we talked about John 4 and the story of the woman at the well.  If you don’t know the story, this prostitute happens upon Jesus sitting by a well.  He asks her for a drink of water and they are off into a discussion about life and how to truely worship God.  It’s this great moment in the life of Jesus where He is presented with this woman of unfavorable status and a sordid past and instead of judging He loves her.

As we talked last night and took the time to slow down and think through what it meant for Jesus to talk to this lady, we came to the conclussion that Jesus was more interested in the person than their past!  He cared about her more than what she had done.  The reality is that we all have a sordid past – heck, I’m a pastor and I know that I have plenty to be ashamed of.  The beauty of the good news that’s found in Jesus is that He takes us right where we are.  It is the very fact that we have all have a dirty past that Jesus came to the earth to be a substitute for all the wrong doing that we participated in, in order that we might draw near to God and gain a relationship with Him!

If it comes down to the person or their past, at Epic, it will always be about the person!  I’m loving following Jesus!
