Taco Bell Corp. will give away a crunchy beef taco to any customer who shows up on Oct. 28, thanks to Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Jason Bartlett.
Bartlett’s stolen base in the fifth inning on Oct. 22 during the opening game of the World Series means that the fast-food dining chain will hand out the free tacos — one per person — between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Oct. 28.
It’s the second year in a row that the Irvine-based company’s “Steal A Base, Steal A Taco” promotion paid off for baseball fans. Jacoby Ellsbury of the Boston Red Sox stole a base in the second game of the 2007 World Series, eventually won by the Red Sox.
