.
Do you remember the commercials leading up to the launch of the iPhone? Apple had a specific strategy to get people involved in the process – to engage and entice. By the time the phone actually released, I was considering driving to Wichita, standing in line and purchasing a product I would never be able to use in GC…
Launching Large is a strategy that creates the same type of interest and intrigue in people when it comes to your church plant. Below is an simplified version of Epic Church’s launching large strategy:
- Start initial small groups – fellowship/prayer/study
- Develop Launch Team (a group of committed individuals and families who are excited about the vision and purpose of Epic Church)
- Implement monthly service events
- Implement monthly family events
- Join with the community in events put on by varying organizations (Partnering with community centers, YMCA’s, etc)
- Begin 5 months out from launch date in Sept. 2009
- Weekend after labor day commence launch of Epic Church
This is very much a simplified version of the launching large strategy. But hopefully it gives you an idea of the types of things we will be doing to get involved in the community. Check out our full strategic plan to get a better idea of the full extent of what it takes to launch large!

I finally had the chance to read your 3-part post on launching large. I think it totally makes sense, as a strategy to get the full “bang for your buck,” to make the most of the efforts and the potential for impact on the community. I didn’t really have any idea why you were dedicated to launching large before you posted this. (Figured it MUST be something to do with your ego
So, thanks for sharing! I get more excited for you guys the more I hear!
